'Henry Longfellow and the Legacy of the Dante Club,' a talk by Christian Dupont, February 25, 2012. [produced April 6, 2012] = = = = In honor of the 205th anniversary of Longfellow's birth, a talk was given by rare book librarian and independent scholar Christian Dupont on February 25, 2012, in Story Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery. Longfellow was buried in the historic cemetery in 1882. The most recent publication of 'Dante Studies' was dedicated to Longfellow and his interest in the classic Italian poet, Dante Alighieri. Longfellow was the first American to translate Dante's 'Divine Comedy.' Christian Dupont has published extensively on reading and collecting Dante in America. Dupont's essays and catalogues on Longfellow and Dante appear in 'Dante Studies.' Happy Birthday Henry!'
