Children's Health: The Major Problems
The health risks and problems children face growing up today are different from those of just a few years ago. The C.S. Mott Children's Hospital of the University of Michigan Health System conducts a national poll on children's health every year, rating the "big problems" in children's health as perceived by adults.
This edition of Physician Focus will review the top ten major health issues facing our children as reported by the poll. The host and guest examine such questions as why do adults view these as big problems? Are these different from those that pediatricians see as problems? And how do pediatricians counsel parents and their children on the biggest threats to their health?
Guest:
Elizabeth Goodman, M.D., Associate Chief for Community-Based Research, MassGeneral Hospital for Children, Boston; Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School; Member, Board of Directors, Massachusetts Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics.
Host:
Lynda Young, M.D., Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, UMass Medical School, Worcester, Mass; Past President, Massachusetts Medical Society
Note to Program Directors: The main program is 28 minutes, followed by two separate, one-minute public service announcements.
