'Berkshire Idol 2008 Finals, March 29, 2008.' = = = = = Who We Are? Berkshire Idol is organized by a small group of volunteers dedicated to raising money for charitable organizations in Berkshire County.It is our goal to provide an outlet for interested amateur vocalists to come together to share their enthusiasm and talents for singing while raising money for great causes. Prizes for Fundraising: This year we will again be awarding Prizes for Fundraising. First prize will be one week at Vacation Village , a $1400 value, Second prize is an iPod and Third Prize is a Karaoke machine. Prizes for Winners: First Prize in each category is $1,000.00 in cash for the 16 to adult age group and a $1,000 U.S. savings bond for the 10 to 15 age group, 4 hours of professional studio time courtesy of Skyboro Sound toward the production of a demo CD. First place winners and runners up may be invited to perform at other venues at later dates as well. All 2008 proceeds will be donated to the Louison House Homeless Shelter under the umbrella of the Northern Berkshire United Way: Family Life Center(FLSC)is a private, non-profit organization that was developed in 1989. The mission of FLSC is to reduce homelessness and its causes in Northern Berkshire County. FLSC provides preventative counseling and case management, life skills education and emergency shelter to homeless and at-risk individuals and families in Northern Berkshire County. FLSC operates two distinct but complimentary programs to reduce the incidence of homelessness and stabilize households in Northern Berkshire County: the Prevention Office and the Louison House shelter. The Prevention Office, located at the Louison House in Adams provides a broad range of services designed to prevent the causes that often lead to homelessness for families and individuals. The Prevention Office is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by two qualified counselors who specialize in homeless prevention and advocacy. The Louison House residential program and shelter is a 22-bed facility that serves individuals and families who have become homeless. The house provides a safe and substance-free environment for single men, women and families and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by qualified personnel.
